Who is the Muslim Brotherhood?

The Muslim Brotherhood was established in 1928 by Hasan al-Banna, an activist Sunni Muslim from Egypt. Although banned in Egypt, it operates openly in over 80 countries. They seek to establish an Islamic Caliphate covering the entire Muslim world. It also seeks to make Islamic law (Shar’ia) the only basis of law and government.

In May 1991 the Brotherhood issued an explanatory memorandum on the “General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America.” Their mission: establish “an effective and … stable Islamic Movement” on the continent, this document outlined a “Civilization-Jihadist Process” for achieving that objective.

It stated that Muslims “must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands … so that … God’s religion [Islam] is made victorious over all other religions.”

The Project (found by the Swiss in a raid during Nov. 2001) is a 14-page Brotherhood document listing several objectives including: Inflaming violence and keeping Muslims living in the West “in a jihad frame of mind”; Conducting surveillance, obtaining data, establishing collection/storage capabilities; Using deception to mask the intended goals of Islamist actions. The Holy Land Foundation Trial

Established in 1988 under the name “Occupied Land Fund”, the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF) was a non-profit, tax-exempt, charitable trust located in Richardson, TX.

Early on, the HLF received $200,000 from Musa Abu Marzook, the HAMAS senior political leader and Virginia resident. Marzook was deported in 1997 for his involvement in 6 terror attacks in Israel that killed 47 people.

In 1996, suspicious of its terrorist ties, federal authorities began monitoring the HLF. On December 4, 2001, the government seized all HLF assets and records due to connections with HAMAS. HAMAS is the Palestinian wing of the Muslim Brotherhood.

In July 2004, five former HLF leaders were indicted for providing material support for HAMAS terrorists – $57 million since 1988. On July 23, 2007, HLF’s leaders went on trial. Along with the 7 defendants, the government released a list of around 300 “unindicted co-conspirators” and “joint venturers”.

Five of the former officials were eventually convicted (two remain fugitives). The evidence so compelling it was ordered to be made publicly available here and here.

Among the evidence are documents, wiretaps, financial records and more showing the relationship between HAMAS, a Foreign Terrorist Organization, the Muslim Brotherhood, CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations), ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) and NAIT (North American Islamic Trust) and more.

HAMAS and CAIR

In February 2010, the Assistant Attorney General (AAG) responded to an inquiry from four members of Congress regarding evidence which led to the CAIR being named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the HLF trial. CAIR is a HAMAS front organization.

The AAG concluded “…evidence was introduced in which demonstrated a relationship among CAIR, individual CAIR founders, and the Palestine Committee. Evidence was also introduced that demonstrated a relationship between the Palestine Committee and HAMAS, designated as a terrorist organization in 1995.”

CAIR  also provides formal ‘sensitivity’ training to law enforcement agencies across the country on Islam and how to treat Muslims. The “diversity workshops” are a dangerous disinformation program according to veteran counterterrorism agents.

Who has done the training? Mohamed Nimer, who wrote CAIR’s police guide and previously worked for UASR (United Studies for Studies and Research) – another known HAMAS terrorist front organization.

The same organization training police has bankrolled a cop killer’s legal defense fund. On March 16, 2000, H. Rap Brown, aka Imam Jamil al-Amin, shot two Fulton County, GA deputies – Ricky Kinchen and Aldaron English. Kinchen died.

Nihad Awad, executive director for CAIR, received a letter from Brown’s attorney, Karima al-Amin, thanking CAIR for the “…additional contribution of $9,000 to be used for legal expenses relative to Jamil al-Amin’s case.” Awad has visited Brown in prison.

A Clear and Present Danger

The leadership of the various Muslim Brotherhood organizations is riddled with direct connections to terrorism. Foreign Terrorist Organizations (as defined by US law) that were created by the Brotherhood include HAMAS and Al-Qaeda. CAIR was proven to be HAMAS in the HLF trial. ISNA is a Brotherhood support entity.

So why would law enforcement and intelligence agencies (federal, tribal, state, local) rely on CAIR, ISNA or any of their sister organizations (e.g. MPAC – Muslim Public Affairs Council) to be the liaison between police and the Muslim community?

But the goal of the Muslim Brotherhood and its entities is not to engage in violent action against the United States. Not yet. The Brotherhood is engaged in a monumental information operation, which manifests itself in our system as political warfare, influence operations and subversion of our foundational institutions.

This is a challenge unlike anything law enforcement and intelligence have faced before. It means having the courage to question politically correct thinking.

The threat of domestic terrorism is not going away. The tactics will not be the same for every Brotherhood group. The goals, however, remain the same; re-establishing the Islamic caliphate, making Islam the dominant religion and Shar’ia the only law.
