“CHICAGO — A Chicago police officer has been suspended for 15 months for demanding free coffee and baked goods from six different Starbucks.”
“DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A police lieutenant in Daytona Beach was fired over accusations that he threatened slower emergency response times if he was not given complimentary specialty Starbucks coffee drinks.”
These are just two stories about coffee. Starbucks coffee. Would this have even made the news if it were the local convenience store and a free soft drink, or a cup of their alleged coffee?
It’s bad enough officers have to deal with the donut stereotype. But none of those donuts ever had a brand name like Starbucks. And neither one of those officers ever thought they’d be making the national news this way.
So, do the rest of law enforcement a favor before you go trying to extort a cup of Starbucks the next time. Think before you drink…coffee.
